Senior Back End Engineer, EU (PHP/Node.js)
The Opportunity:
Are you an experienced back-end engineer with a passion for building scalable and efficient systems? Do you have a track record of developing custom solutions and optimizing back-end systems? If so, you could be a great fit for the Senior Back End Engineer, EU role at Team Liquid.
In this role, you will contribute to building and maintaining our proprietary new wiki platform and enhancing our existing MediaWiki platform. You'll be contributing to designing and developing new back-end services for Liquipedia, the world’s largest esports encyclopedia across web and mobile platforms. Working in a cross-functional SCRUM team, you'll work alongside teams across functions to ensure the platform continues to grow and evolve. This is a unique opportunity to work on impactful projects in the esports and gaming space.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Design, develop, implement, and deploy scalable back-end solutions.
- Build and optimize back-end systems to handle large volumes of data and API requests.
- Work with caching technologies such as Varnish and Memcached to improve system performance.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry best practices.
- Refactor legacy services to ensure sustainability and performance for future growth.
- Work with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to rebuild core infrastructure for better platform needs.
- Conduct thorough testing and debugging of back-end systems to identify and resolve any issues.
- Stay current with industry trends to ensure continuous improvement and innovation.
- Work closely with front-end engineers, back-end engineers, and the contributor community to translate business needs into technical specifications.
- Work within a cross-functional SCRUM team to align development efforts.
What You'll Need:
- 4+ years of experience working with PHP in a professional environment.
- 3+ years of experience working with TypeScript/Node.js.
- Experience with data processing optimization and caching mechanisms.
- Strong experience with databases such as MySQL, MariaDB, and MongoDB.
- Fluent in English.
