Corporate Chef, Culinary Operations & Events
The Opportunity:
Are you a skilled chef with expertise in culinary operations, focusing on nutrition and performance? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy managing large-scale events and daily meal service? If so, you could be a perfect fit for the Corporate Chef, Culinary Operations & Events role.
In this role, you will plan and prepare meals that promote digestive health and performance using evidence-based cooking methods and high-quality ingredients. You’ll manage all aspects of culinary operations, from menu development and sourcing to kitchen operations and food safety, and scale meal service for large internal events such as Race to World First.
This position includes participation in key internal productions throughout the year. Events like Race to World First may run for multiple weeks and require flexibility for extended hours and weekend work. When service exceeds standard capacity, you will coordinate with internal teams to arrange additional culinary help in accordance with established event budgets.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Prepare consistent, high-quality meals (lunch and dinner) five days per week
- Create menus that align with performance, recovery, and a variety of dietary needs
- Cook for groups of 30–70 each day, adjusting portions to minimize waste and match daily needs
- Maintain all food safety and kitchen sanitation standards in compliance with California law
- Purchase ingredients and supplies within a monthly budget and maintain accurate expense records
- Work closely with internal teams to align food service with schedules and team activity
- Contribute to internal events, including productions and client activations, by coordinating additional culinary resources when necessary
- Use culinary research to introduce new recipes and preparation techniques that enable health and efficiency
- Gather feedback on meal quality and adapt offerings to reflect preferences and outcomes.
What You’ll Need:
- 5+ years of experience in professional kitchens, ideally in solo, private, or corporate chef roles.
- Experience cooking at scale and managing all aspects of kitchen operations.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and cleanliness procedures.
- Ability to accommodate a wide range of dietary needs.
- Excellent communication and time management.
- Valid California food safety certification (or ability to obtain before starting).
- Private transportation to and from the workplace.
- Annual safety and sanitary certification as required by California state law.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently meet diverse food expectations for group sizes ranging from 5 to 60+.
You'll Earn Bonus Points If You Have:
- Experience as a solo or private chef.
- Familiarity with esports or player meal prep.
- Comfort managing food budgets and submitting expense reports.
- Proficiency with survey tools or basic meal feedback platforms.
Schedule:
- Weekday schedule typically falls between 9:00am – 5:30pm, five days a week.
- Lunch must be ready no earlier than 10:30am; dinner by 5:30pm.
- Flexibility required for extended hours during special events.
- This is an on-site role based in Santa Monica, CA.
Benefits:
The salary range for CA is: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year.
